Hispanic Heritage Month Lands in the Most Chaotic Weeks of the School Year.

It shows up right as school starts. You want to do it well, and you have no time to build anything.

So you search, and you find bulletin boards, playlists, and one-page trivia. Students enjoy it for a day, and nobody speaks or writes much Spanish.

Students use language when they have something real to look at and a reason to talk about it. Seven great artworks give them both.

The Hispanic Heritage Art Portfolio gives you seven sessions that are already built. You teach, and your students do the talking!

Which One Sounds Like You?

“Hispanic Heritage Month lands in the first chaotic weeks of school, and I have nothing meaningful ready.”

Already Built

Seven sessions with the stories, slides, discussion questions, and writing prompts prepared.

“What I find is bulletin boards and trivia, not real Spanish.”

Real Writing

Every session ends with students writing in Spanish about the artist.

“My class is mixed level.”

Open-Ended Prompts

A beginner writes one sentence and an advanced student writes a paragraph, from the same prompt.

“I’m not confident describing art in Spanish.”

Bilingual Scripts

The Reading and Writing Books come in a bilingual edition and a Spanish-only edition, with scripts to lean on.

Inside, You’ll Find Out:

1
How seven artists turn Hispanic Heritage Month into seven real Spanish lessons, with no weekend of prep
2
Why students draw each artwork from memory before they describe it, and how that gets a quiet class talking
3
How one open-ended prompt lets a beginner write a sentence and an advanced student write a paragraph, in the same class
4
The story of the Hispanic world in seven short chapters, from La antigüedad to El mundo de hoy, in a bilingual or Spanish-only edition
5
What your students finish with: their own written Mi historia del mundo hispano

Interactive Slides

$127 value

160 Google Slides in Spanish with English support. The first 19 give the big picture: the Sept 15 to Oct 15 calendar with Independence Day flags, six eras, artist and artwork timelines, cultural centers, and where each artwork is today and what it is worth. Each artist then gets about 18 slides, from the bio and the artwork to the drawing tally, the message, and the writing.

Mi historia del mundo hispano

In the Writing Book

The last page of the Writing Book is where it all comes together. Students paste in their paragraph from the introduction, each of the seven artists, and the conclusion, and finish with one written piece of their own, in Spanish, about the story of the Hispanic world.

This Is for You If…

You teach Spanish to a class, a co-op, a tutoring group, or your own family
You want Hispanic Heritage Month to mean real Spanish, with students speaking and writing
You want seven sessions ready to teach, without a weekend of building
Your class is mixed level, and you want prompts that work for every student
Spanish isn’t your first language, and you want bilingual scripts and a Spanish-only edition to lean on

This is not for you if:

  • You want to choose your own artists and artworks. The Historia de Arte system lets you teach any artwork, and the artists here are fixed.
  • You want to teach art history. These are Spanish lessons, and the art gives students words to use.

Here’s What I Am, and What I’m Not.

I’m not a credentialed academic, and I want to say that upfront. I’ve spent a lot of my life in classrooms: homeschool rooms, co-ops, and substitute assignments, plus 20+ years living bilingually in Spanish.

Hispanic Heritage Month is one of the most meaningful opportunities of the school year, and one of the most overwhelming. You want to do it well, and you want your students to really connect with the history and the people behind the language they are learning.

I built the Portfolio on the Historia de Arte system, so seven great artworks give your students something real to look at, describe, and write about. The stories, the slides, the discussion, and the writing are already done.

Seven artists, seven sessions, everything prepared for a great discussion any time of the year!

Your First Session

1
Open Your Downloads. Make a copy of each Google Doc and Google Slides file, in the edition you want: bilingual or Spanish-only.

3
Pick an artist. Each session stands on its own, so you can start with any of the seven.
4
Teach with the Interactive Slides. Read the artist’s chapter in the Reading Book, then walk through the five steps.
5
Students write in their Writing Book. Each artist’s paragraph goes into Mi historia del mundo hispano at the end.

Your first session is ready to teach the moment you open the files.

What Teachers Say

A crowded Spanish classroom where students write and draw in their books, with hands raised, while the teacher points to Goya's The Third of May 1808 on the projector screen

“It is EXTENSIVE. Not only for the artistic component, but as a repository of vocabulary.”

“…these words turn my students’ writing into another level of sophistication.”

Jose M., High School Teacher and Private Tutor

“…an awesome list because my Spanish 3 classes are working on drawing a famous painting, and then writing about the artist, using some of the vocab this list provided.”

Rhonda B., High School Teacher, Spanish 1 and 3

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this only for Hispanic Heritage Month?

No. It was made for Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 to Oct 15), and it works any time of year as a standalone unit on art, history, and culture.

Do I need Historia de Arte?

No. The Portfolio is sold on its own. If you own Historia de Arte, you can run the Portfolio through your own Interactive Slides and Vocabulary Menu.

Do I have to teach the artists in order?

No. Each session stands on its own, so you can teach the artists in any order.

Is this an art history curriculum?

No. These are Spanish lessons. The art gives students something to observe and describe, and the writing builds their Spanish.

What levels does it work for?

It’s built for middle school through AP. The prompts are open-ended, so a beginner writes one sentence and an advanced student writes a paragraph, in response to the same prompt.

Do my students need to read English?

No. The Reading Book and the Writing Book each come in a Spanish-only edition, along with the bilingual edition.

Is it only for classrooms?

No. Homeschool families, tutors, and co-ops are included. A group needs a teacher license.

Which license do I need?

Pick who you’ll be teaching. Individual or family is included in the $197. One teacher with 1-30 students adds a one-time $99 group license, and 31 or more students adds $250. Each teacher needs their own copy plus their own license.

What format is everything in?

The Reading Book and Writing Book are Google Docs, and the Interactive Slides are Google Slides. Each one arrives as a make-a-copy link, and every resource has its own how-to lesson in your members area.

Is there a refund?

All sales are final, because the files and lessons are delivered instantly. Questions first? Email [email protected].
